Bringing in Sweets (Using a Kashi-bachi)

  1. Holding the sweets bowl with both hands, enter the room.
  2. Place it in front on your knees with both hands. (From the viewpoint of the guest, it should be outside the tatami’s edge)
  3. Scoot back a little, and give a formal bow.

Bringing in Sweets (Using a Fuchidaka)

  1. Holding the fuchidaka with both hands, enter the room.
  2. From the guest’s viewpoint, place it outside the tatami edge, then scoot back a little, and give a formal bow. (Line up your fingertips)

Items That Have a Seam:
For “Square” items, advance with the seam on the far side from the guests.
For “Round” items, come with the seam in front where the guests can see.
It’s useful to remember “Maru Mae, Kaku Mukou” (Round Front, Square Back).

菓子器を出す(菓子鉢の場合)
①菓子鉢を両手で持ち、席に入る
②両手で膝前に置く
(客から見て縁外に寄せて置く)
③一膝下がり、真のお辞儀

菓子器を出す(縁高の場合)
①縁高を両手で持ち、席に入る
②客から見て縁外に置き、一膝下がり、真のお辞儀
(指先を揃える)

とじ目のある物は
「角」の場合は、とじ目を客から見て向こう側にすすめます。
「丸」の場合は、とじ目を客から見て前にきます。
「丸前、角向こう」と覚えると便利です。
