I feel tea ceremony is sometimes accused of being stuffy and restricting. But I felt the below quote, from a book called “Bushido for Children” by TAKAHASHI Wanosuke, answers that concern.

Question: The etiquette of tea ceremony has all been established already. I feel like it there isn’t any true heart in it.

Answer: The etiquette of tea ceremony may seem tedious to the beginner. But it is etiquette that makes us be considerate to the others around us. First, just try to remember the form of the etiquette. There is no doubt a reason behind that form. From that, we can learn true politeness.
